DR ROGER HAMMOND

Wouldn't it be nice to go to work to make people smile? It is a rare privilege to not just make people smile but create that smile. And it is the creation of these smiles and the relationships that develop with my patients that keep me keen to do what I do daily.

At Northside Orthodontics, I am very fortunate to have the amazing support and collegiality of my orthodontic partner, Steve, with whom I studied then went on to establish the practice. While we treat our patients individually, we work together to assess patients, finesse our procedures and critique our results. All of this would not be possible without our fantastic workmates who are the collective
engine of Northside Orthodontics.

After graduating from  the University of Sydney in 1989 with a degree in dentistry, I moved to Armidale then Byron Bay. I gained invaluable experience treating the whole
range of dental conditions in all ages and stages of life. I also took the opportunity to travel and have some great life experiences.

Ten years after graduating as a dentist, I was offered a position to study as a specialist in Orthodontics. I returned to full time study and was awarded a Masters of Dental
Science (Orthodontics) from the University of Sydney in 2001 and my thesis on sleep apnoea devices was subsequently published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. I enjoy all aspects of orthodontic treatment from primary school kids to those that are way older than me!

Apart from orthodontics, I enjoy life with my beautiful wife, Simone, and our six children. I love being in the ocean (preferably on a board) or, alternatively, watching it.

DR STEVE MOATE

It is such a privilege and a pleasure to be an Orthodontist in Manly, I really love my job. The opportunity to help create amazing smiles every day is enormously satisfying.
Living and working in the Northern Beaches’ community allows me the additional enjoyment of seeing our patients going about their lives with renewed confidence and a terrific smile.

Roger and I set up Northside Orthodontics over 10 years ago with the aim of becoming the best Orthodontic Practice on the Northern Beaches. We share a determination to set a very high standard of patient care, while maintaining excellent orthodontic skills. The staff at Northside are the backbone of our practice and they help us maintain these standards, while aiming to set even higher levels of achievement. We are very proud of our staff and the practice that we have created.

I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1992, receiving an Honours Degree in Dentistry. I first worked in Orange, NSW, then as a Flying Dentist in the Northern Territory (servicing the Arnhem Land area), and finally in private practice as a general dentist in Sydney. This work gave me a strong background in all areas of dentistry, allowed me to experience different styles of practice and helped me formulate goals for my own Orthodontic practice.

I completed my training as an Orthodontist in 2001 and have a special interest in early intervention treatment and Invisalign. My thesis on imaging of the face has been published in Australian and American Orthodontic journals.

I am currently a Councillor on the NSW and Australian Society of Orthodontics and I enjoy these roles, as we endeavour to shape the future of our profession.

I am married to Janelle, who is a Veterinarian and we have a son, Henry, and daughter, Anna. We have two dogs (Baz and Boots) and a cat (Rupert) who rule the house. I love the outdoors, especially jogging along the beach and playing touch football, and am an avid fan of the Sydney Swans.

KERRIE BETTISON

Kerrie graduated as a dental hygienist in 1987. Since then Kerrie has gained experience in general dentistry as well as in specialised areas of dentistry. She has been with Northside Orthodontics since 2003.
